SUZAN SHERMAN, LP

If you’re looking for emotional support and insight, I’m here to help—whether it’s a pressing issue that’s come to a head or a longstanding dynamic you feel ready to change.
Whatever the reason you are seeking help, I will utilize my extensive training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, as well as my compassion and intuition, to gently collaborate on developing the awareness, understanding, and acceptance that’s needed to heal and transform.
ABOUT MY PRACTICE
I am a licensed psychoanalyst, having completed a rigorous six-year advanced training at the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis (NPAP). For six years I served as an analyst under supervision at the Theodor Reik Clinical Center (TRCC), where I worked with adults, many of whom sought treatment for relationship issues, including intimacy, trust, communication, and anger management. Other issues that I have worked with extensively include depression, anxiety, somatic disorders (including drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders, and other body-mind related issues), grief, self esteem, struggles with sexual identity, and blocks in creative pursuits. Additional specialties include friends and family of alcoholics, adoption, and parents of special needs children.

My approach is grounded in psychoanalysis, a depth-oriented therapeutic practice that emphasizes the discovery of unconscious patterns formed over a lifetime, which impact and impede current emotional and relational functioning. In working through these dynamics, one can better understand oneself, one’s motivations, and inevitably move on from past hurts to make better choices in the present.
